Book Fair Volunteers

We're using VolunteerSpot (the leading online signup and reminder tool) to organize our Scholastic BOGO book fair.   We have several time slots for which we are needing volunteers to help set up, run or take down the book fair.  If this interests you, please sign up for Clever Elemiddle Scholastic Book Fair!

Here's how it works in 3 easy steps:

1. Click this link to go to our invitation page on VolunteerSpot:
2. Enter your email address: (You will NOT need to register an account on VolunteerSpot)
3. Sign up! Choose your spots - VolunteerSpot will send you an automated confirmation and reminders. Easy!

Note: VolunteerSpot does not share your email address with anyone. If you prefer not to use your email address, please contact Mrs. Carlson or Mrs. Springer in the library at 417-221-7868 and they can sign you up manually.

We need your help!

Opaa! began a company-wide participation contest in October.  The goal is to feed healthy meals to more students in every district.  We are measuring percentage of increase in meals based on the first month of school and comparing it with the rest of the year.

The contest winner from each Region will receive $1500 in equipment, supplies, etc.  The company wide winner will receive an additional $3500 in equipment and supplies.  That’s potentially $5000 of equipment that we don’t have to ask Dr. Henson for, which will potentially free up more money for your budget requests! J

We are currently running neck and neck with Ash Grove for our Region!  Please encourage your students to try breakfast and lunch with us, have breakfast and lunch with us yourself, encourage the parents of your students to come have lunch with their students.  Every meal or a la carte purchase helps!!!

Welcome Back

First off, I'm glad to be back in the swing of things. We have much to do and I am afraid that this quarter will go by too quickly. I am still tutoring Monday - Wednesday afternoons if your child wants to stay. They must give me a day's notice to make sure I don't have meetings or something that has come up.

Parent/Teacher conferences will be coming up the week of April 13th. Be on the look out for a sign up sheet to select the date & time you would like to meet.

If you aren't receiving our weekly 5th grade newsletter through email or paper copy, please let me know. It is a great communication tool that will help to keep you more informed.

MAP Testing

Yes, I know. It seems too early to be talking about MAP. Testing will be online this year and we want our kids to be as prepared as possible. After spring break we will be introducing them to the online platform that they will be using. If you would like to take a look at it or play around with it with your child, we want you to have that opportunity.

Select the link below.
MAP Platform

*Select English Language Arts, Math or Science.
*Choose Grades 3-5, or Grade 5 for science.
*Select Standard.
*Log in using the given username & password.

This will allow you to see what the test will look like & give our kids an opportunity to become familiar with the tools. Again, we will be doing this during class to give all students an opportunity to learn how to use the tools.

Let me know if you have any questions.
